The Duellists The Duellists  5/5
Director : Ridley Scott
DVD (and Video)

There are few films on the Napoleonic period. This film was released in 1977 and quite rightly has become a classic, not only amongst Napoleonic enthusiasts, but also film enthusiasts.
The costumes, music, settings and atmosphere are Scott at his best. There are no epic battles. What we get is a feel for the times as 2 hussar officers duel their way through the wars of Napoleon.
If you've not seen this film yet, do so. For those of us who have, the wait is over.
